Long-Term Visa Privileges

Membership length and stay per entry are not the same thing.

Members benefit from a multiple-entry Privilege Entry (PE) Visa, allowing convenient travel to and from Thailand throughout the applicable visa validity.

Up to 1 year

Permitted stay per entry, subject to immigration conditions

5 to 20 years

Membership validity, depending on the tier

Key features include:

  • Long-term membership options from 5 to 20 years.
  • Multiple entries into Thailand.
  • Permission to stay for up to one year per entry, subject to immigration conditions.
  • Possibility of applying for extensions of stay without leaving Thailand.
  • Access to member assistance and selected immigration-related services.

The programme does not grant permanent residence, citizenship or employment authorisation. Members must continue to comply with Thai immigration regulations, including applicable 90-day reporting requirements.

Who Can Apply?

Open to eligible foreign nationals of all ages.

Applicants generally must:

  • Hold a valid foreign passport, normally with at least one year of remaining validity.
  • Meet Thailand's immigration requirements.
  • Pass the required background and security verification.
  • Have no disqualifying criminal, bankruptcy or immigration history.
  • Complete the required membership application and payment procedures.

Unlike several other long-term visa categories, Thailand Privilege Card membership does not generally impose a minimum age, mandatory employment sponsorship or a standard monthly income threshold.

Final eligibility is determined by Thailand Privilege Card and the relevant Thai authorities. If you meet the higher income or investment thresholds, the LTR Visa may also be worth comparing; retirees aged 50+ can also consider retirement visas.

Still have a question? Contact us →

Is Thailand Privilege Card the same as Thailand Elite Visa?

Yes. Thailand Privilege Card is the current programme name associated with the former Thailand Elite membership scheme. The programme now offers updated membership categories and benefits.

Can I live continuously in Thailand for 5, 10, 15 or 20 years?

The membership provides long-term visa privileges for the applicable membership period. However, a Privilege Entry Visa generally permits a stay of up to one year per entry. Members wishing to remain longer must obtain the appropriate extension of stay before their current permission expires.

Can I work in Thailand with this visa?

No. Thailand Privilege Card membership does not provide permission to work in Thailand. Individuals intending to undertake employment or activities requiring work authorisation must obtain the appropriate visa and permits.

Can my family apply with me?

Eligible family members may be able to obtain supplementary memberships under selected packages, including Platinum, Diamond and Reserve. Separate fees, eligibility requirements and promotional conditions may apply.

How long does the application take?

Background verification commonly takes approximately four to six weeks, although processing can take longer depending on the applicant's circumstances and the relevant authorities.

Do I need health insurance?

Health insurance is not generally a mandatory condition of Thailand Privilege Card membership. However, appropriate medical insurance is recommended for individuals planning an extended stay.
